Shirley A. Norton's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley A. Norton, age 80, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 23, 2011 at a local nursing home. She was born December 27, 1930 to William A. and Edna (Gibson) Nichols in Vincennes, IN, and had lived in the Muskegon area for almost 70 years. Shirley worked as a cake decorator at Cole’s Bakery and Ryke’s Bakery for 40 years before retiring in 2004, and was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church. She also enjoyed reading, dancing, cross-word puzzles, listening to Christmas music, and being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Susie (Mike) Kotecki of Fruitport, Bruce (Rachael) Norton of Bloomington, IN, Julie (Robert) Lewis of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren (with 2 on the way). She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Robert and Raymon Nichols, and 1 sister, Imogene Nichols. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, February 28, at Fellowship Reformed Church, with Rev. Greg VanderMeer officiating. There will be a time for fellowship with the family following the service.
