Shirley Mae Thompson's Obituary
Mrs. Shirley Mae (McDonald) Thompson, age 73, passed away Wednesday evening at her home surrounded by her beloved family. She was born November 18, 1937 in Muskegon to Claude and Linda (Lutes) McDonald and lived in the area her entire life. Shirley spent her entire life taking care of her family and raising 4 children – who unquestionably call her the best mother in the world. Her life was her loving family and her absence will create a void that will never be filled. She enjoyed sewing and crafts as well as gardening and flowers. Shirley made many lasting friendships at the Fruitport Eagles where she volunteered her time for many events and was also a member of the ladies auxiliary at the VFW #3195. On June 16, 1973, Shirley married Karl Thompson and he survives her along with her 4 children, Gary (Pamela) Wheeler of Fruitport, Dudley (Gladys) Wheeler of Muskegon, Lynda (Glenn) Jackomino of Muskegon, Michelle Lancaster of Clarkston, MI; step-daughter, Starr Lynn (Tim) Goodwin of Lansing; 9 grandchildren, Dudley, Cody, Jarrad, Kailee, Nicole, Tommy, Kassie, Adam and Atashia; 1 nephew, Jeff (Mary) McDonald of Spring Lake; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Arthur McDonald. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 2, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street (231) 798-1100. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be 1-2 PM Monday prior to the service.
