"The Ivins Family, Steve's In-Laws, helped raise my brother Joed & I. I have a picture book in my office, and the cover picture is me at Steve & Nan's Wedding in 1981. Though we did not keep in touch as much over the years, we would cross paths every now and then, (Nelson's Birthday comes to mind.) My memories of Steve are when I was a little kid and Grandma Helen, Nelson and Aunt Nan would take care of me. I remember a very bushy mustache, Moose the Dog, the yellow house in Grand Haven, the cottage on the hill, and the construction of the big house in the woods in the Township. There was a catwalk over the living room and I remember Steve telling me, "Hey ain't it cool!?" As I said, our paths have not crossed as often as they used to, but from what I have gathered, Steve was a gracious and wonderful man who was loved by many. The Bruces send their condolences to a family who not only helped my Mom & Dad get their start in Michigan when they first moved here, but also a family whose influence is still felt in my life to this day. A big part of who I became was the groundwork laid by Steve and his family." Jesse Bruce & Family
