Susan L. "Sue" DeGroot's Obituary
Susan L. “Sue” DeGroot, age 67, passed away Saturday morning, April 28, 2018. She was born February 21, 1951 in Muskegon to Henry “Hank” and Shirley (Bellanger) Smith. Sue was a graduate of Mona Shores High School in 1969 and had worked for GTE for 35 years prior to retiring. On June 29, 1974, she married Allen “Al” DeGroot in Muskegon. Sue loved to stay active. She loved shopping, going to casinos, traveling, riding motorcycles, and going to car shows with their Hot Rods. SURVIVORS include her husband, Allen; 2 children: Bryan (Sarah) DeGroot, Becky (Eric) Walachovic both of Fruitport; 2 grandchildren: Chase and Grady Walachovic; mother, Shirley Smith of Norton Shores; brother, Tom (Jan) Smith of Norton Shores; and her fur baby, Dusty. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry “Hank” Smith. A CELEBRATION OF SUE’S LIFE will be held from 1-4 PM on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Watermark Center (930 Washington Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441) with a prayer service to follow.
