Thomas J. Wilson's Obituary
Thomas Jay “T” Wilson, age 69, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 21, 2015. He was born October 3, 1945 in Muskegon Heights to James and Donna (Rhodes) Wilson. Tom graduated from Western Michigan University with a Masters in Political Science. He worked as a school teacher for Mona Shores High School for 46 years before retirement. Tom also served as a police officer for the City of Norton Shores for 35 years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. For over 30 years he coached the Mona Shores Varsity boys and girls golf teams and helped lead them to multiple state titles. He also was inducted into the MSHSAA Coaches Hall of Fame. Tom loved fishing for steelhead on the Pere Marquette River and taking long walks with his dog “Tara.” SURVIVORS include 2 sons: Erin (Amy) Wilson of Grand Rapids, Adam (Deanne) Wilson of Zeeland; 5 grandchildren: Riley Thomas, Siona Ireland, Julian Rhoades, Tyler Phillip, Olivia Anamae; sister, LuAnne (Steve) Hemphill of Muskegon; niece, Lynell Hemphill; and nephew, Neil (Jenn) Hemphill. He was preceded in death by his parents. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held 4:30 PM – 8:30 PM Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Dan White Scholarship Fund, 156 E. Pontaluna, Muskegon, MI 49444.
