Thomas O. Mitchell's Obituary
Mr. Thomas O. Mitchell, age 83, died early Friday morning, November 10, 2006. He was born to Ora M. and Hazel (Wantz) Mitchell on May 17, 1923 in Lilley, Michigan, Newaygo County. He attended Baldwin High School and graduated as Valedictorian in 1941. He attended Michigan State College as a chemistry major until 1942 when he joined the Army. He was discharged with a Good Conduct Medal in 1946 as a Tec 4. On July 26, 1946 he married Elouise C. Loehr and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Patricia Mitchell of Vicksburg, MI, Dr. Georgianna Mitchell of Seaford, Delaware; and 1 son, Thomas O. Mitchell, Jr. of Muskegon; together with 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Mitchell returned to Michigan State and graduated in 1949 with a B.S. Degree in electrical engineering. He came to Muskegon in 1949 and worked 3 years for Michigan AT&T, and 30 years at Bennett Pump Company. He lived in Egelston Twp. since 1954, and was an instructor in the Carr Junior Rifle Club for several years. Mr. Mitchell attended Fellowship Reformed Church. He loved to hunt and fish. and one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 4:00 PM Sunday at Fellowship Reformed Church (4200 E. Apple Ave.) with Rev. Greg VanderMeer officiating and full military rites under the auspices of the VFW Muskegon County Council.
