Tillie was a rare gem of beauty, love, grace and kindness. I will always cherish the times spent with her, whether it was on a mission trip in the Dominican, a gathering of delicious food after every choir year ended which she prepared, working with her at DIBS!, a visit outside where she put up her garage door and had her swinging lawn chair sitting there so we could visit during COVID and still keep a safe distance ( so the kids wouldn’t worry!), a phone call just checking to see how things were going, a meal shared at her kitchen table, or a visit to sit and pray with her in Holland. With each visit during her final times at home, she always had a gift of one of her beautiful hand embroidered towels to give. We both were blessed to have each other as prayer partners and she was so good at prayer. We shared the gift and joys of sewing- hers were all beautifully and mainly done by hand, mine by machine but up until she couldn’t sew anymore she still loved creating beautiful things. I will always treasure those hand embroidered gift towels and the memories, smiles and laughter of a friendship only God could grace me with through His beautiful servant.
