Vera Nancy Sutton's Obituary
Vera Nancy Sutton, age 87, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Heartwood Lodge Hospice Residence. She was born March 7, 1934, in Grand Haven to Merton and Florence (Payne) Buckner, and she married Charles Sutton on October 30, 1951 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2012.
Vera was a member of the United Lutheran Church in West Olive and active in the Ladies Circle. She worked for General Electric as a motor assembler and was also a blueberry farmer. Vera’s other interests were quilting, feeding the birds, active in 4-H and gardening; especially her flowers in the spring.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Charlene Giuchici and Susan (Kevin) Sutton-Mazzacco; two sons, Ken Sutton and Rich Sutton; eight grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Buckner and Joan Sutton; and her dog, Buffy. She was preceded in death by daughter, Debra Veldheer in April 2019, grandson, Jacob “Jake” Dozeman on February 4, 2021, her sister, Doris Thomas and brother Jack Buckner.
A public visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at The VanZantwick Chapel followed by a private family service with Rev. Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Due to current state restrictions, masks are required, and we are limited to 25 guests indoors. Please be courteous of the time spent with family as others will be waiting.
