Vern D. Brusseau's Obituary
Mr. Vern D. Brusseau, age 73, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at his home. He was born August 28, 1938, in Newberry, MI to Lloyd and Josephine (Labelle) Brusseau, and resided in the area since 1950. Vern was a Veteran of The U.S. Navy, and member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague. He worked as an International Representative for the UAW for 20 years, before retiring in 1998. Vern was a staunch Democrat and member of the Democratic Party, a board member of Community Mental Health, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his wife and family, enjoyed golfing, traveling, and his work. On February 7, 1959, he married the former Joyce Shappee, and together celebrated 52 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his wife, Joyce; 3 children, Jana (Daniel) Harju, Renee Shields and Jill Best, all of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, Nicole (Sean) Carmean, Daniel V. Harju, Benjamin (Randi) Kellner, Nena (Chris) Potts, Courtney Fitt, Emily Fitt, Matthew Shields; 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lois Burbach of Newberry, MI, Phyllis (Dale) Wood of Milwaukee, WI, Shirley Busgen of San Francisco, CA, and ½ sister, Karen Lusk of Muskegon. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, and ½ brother, Robert Brusseau. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11AM Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church (5149 Dowling St.) with Rev. Fr. Donn Tufts presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM.
