My dad, Clifford "Joe" Cox worked at the Life Insurance Company in Lincoln NE and got to know Vern from work. He and my mother were graciously invited to visit Michigan. My dad really enjoyed the trip and visiting Michigan. They brought back blueberries so big, we put them in the freezer and ate them like popsicles. When dad talked to Vern about how much us girls loved the blueberries, he wasn't prepared for the next season when Vern sent us a cooler of blueberries. What a sweet man! He was so thoughtful to mail them from Michigan to Nebraska! To this day, I remember how excited I was and how I thought "Mr. Vern" must be a really nice man - like Santa! Bless him and bless your family. He is with the angels!

Our deepest condolences to hear of Vern’s passing. So glad that my dad Ron Humphreys and myself were able to visit a few weeks ago. Dad who is 90 years young has many great stories growing up with his cousin, but I remember what a technology nerd Vern was even as a senior person, I sold him his first bag cell phone as an early adopter which I know he really used on trips between Muskegon and Traverse City. Jean and Vern also gave my family our beloved Australian Shepherd dog Susie. We are grateful for the financial help from Vern and Eric planning for my parents retiring years. We will all miss him, love to the Mustard family.
