Vernon Richard Plichta's Obituary
Vernon Richard Plichta age 82, of Muskegon died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Poppen Hospice Residence surrounded by his loving family.
Vern was born on February 8, 1930 in Muskegon, MI to the late Steven and Estelle (Poulson) Plichta. He married Shirley Ann (Unger) Plichta on August 16, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict for 2 years was a member of the American Legion Post 9 Honor Guard for many years. Inducted into the Greater Muskegon Bowling Hall of Fame in 1996. He was the Manager of the Ravenna Bowling alley and worked for Brunswick retiring in 1992. He greatly enjoyed his family, bowling, golfing, gardening and being a greeter at Wal-Mart.
Vern is survived by his wife of 52 years: Shirley Ann Plichta of Muskegon, 3 Sons: Alan (Wendy) Plichta of Coopersville, Bruce Plichta of Muskegon and Clark (Stacey) Plichta of Birch Run. 7 Grandchildren, 4 Brothers: Ivan (Edith) Plichta of Fruitport, Steven Plichta of Florida, Kenneth (Donna) Plichta and Jerry (Bobbi) Plichta both of Muskegon. 1 Sister: Carla (Bill) Southland of Muskegon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Vern was preceded in death by: Parents, 1 Sister: Jeanie Plichta & Sister in Betty Plichta.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Ravenna United Methodist Church at 11:00am with Pastor Carl Black officiating. Burial will be at Ravenna Township Cemetery. American Legion Post honor guard will do Military honors at the church.
The family will be at the church 1 hour prior to services to greet friends.
