One of the kindest, most perceptive and caring boys I've ever known. We're heartsick. Albert and Marilisa Sachteleben and family.
Vince was a bright light to those he worked with at Greenpeace, both during his time last summer with us in Washington D.C. and his passionate activism back on campus this school year. He clearly wanted to make the world a better place and will be missed by his extended Greenpeace family. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
I went to GVSU with Vince and worked closely with him in the Student Environmental Coalition. He was an amazing person who was always so kind to everyone. It was always great to see him around campus. He cared so much about such wonderful causes and really worked hard to make the world a better place. He will be greatly missed.
My most heartfelt condolences,
Kristina Pepelko
I still can't believe this is true. Vince was one of the sweetest, most effervescent human beings I have ever met. We met through one of his old room mates at the Valley House, and I was instantly drawn to his ray of sunshine personality. He became my friend in less than two minutes, a rarity for anyone. That was something wonderful about Vince-- he had such a big heart he loved almost everyone he met.
Not only did he love, but he fought passionately for human rights, and environmentalism. He did more in his short years than many of us do in our whole lives.
We both worked at GVSU-- he at the LGBT Resource Center and me at the Women's Center. I would see him almost every morning. No matter how grumpy I was (I am NOT a morning person!) I would see his smile, get a hug and a kiss and I couldn't even try to begrudge the morning.
I wish I could have been there to say goodbye. It pains me to think I last saw Vince at work, and never got to hang out after that.
Love and prayers are being sent your way from Ghana, Vince. As well as love and prayers to your family.
I'll miss you, Vincey Princey. Love ya bb!
