Mrs. Virginia (Northrop) Cook's Obituary
Virginia “Ginny” Ruth Slawson (Northrop) Cook entered glory’s gates on April 3 while residing at Christian Care Hope Memory Care. She was born January 10, 1922 in Oneonta, NY. She was married to Rev. Floyd Northrop from August 10, 1943 until he passed away on November 8, 1982. They served the Lord faithfully at First Baptist Church in Spring Lake, MI for over 20 years as well as ministries in Albion, Detroit and Denver, CO. Virginia married Dorwin Cook on July 16, 1988, and he passed away on November 10, 2001. She was a dedicated Christian, faithful wife and loving mother. She graduated from Oneonta Teachers College and taught children in Sunday School for many years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and twin brothers. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Janice (Samuel) Thompson of Muskegon, her son David (Sheryl) Northrop of Holland; step-daughters, Judy (Fred) Moritz of Garner, NC and Susan (Jim) Jones of Lafayette, IN; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Burial will take place in Franklin, NY. A celebration of Mrs. Cook’s life will be held Saturday, April 15, at Faith Baptist Church, 3593 Whitehall Rd, Muskegon at 11:00 AM.
