Virginia E. Markley, age 95, of Grand Haven passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at a local care facility. She was born on November 3, 1918 in Noblesville, Indiana to Fred and Madeleine (Eppert) Gwinn. She married Vern Markley Read Obituary
Dear family of Virginia, What a precious wonderful friend she was to me. 2 years ago she was my roomate at the nursing home. We became such good friends as she read my book (Finally Free) and we studied the bible together all last summer. When I returned from Florida this Easter I called her and asked her when can I come and see you. She said Thursday right after dinner. When I called her Thursday morning I was told she had died the night before. This just broke my heart because she said she can hardly wait till I start an other Bible-study. I searched for her Obituary but could not find it on line until after her service and am so sorry I could not meet all the wonderful family she told me about. She just loved her flowers that came regularly from John. I am missing her so much and just want you to know that last year at our study a question was asked in our book "what does Jesus mean to you?" Virginia was the first one to answer this and said "everything". We know she is with Him now.
Someday I will see her again what a reunion that will be. May God's peace be with you all as you grieve this wonderful mother/grandmother. with love Kathy Baarman 616 836-9970
Hi, John, so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was a wonderful lady. Sorry not to attend her funeral, but we were in Texas at a funeral for our nephew.

I remember pushing Virginia in her wheelchair downtown for an occasional lunch. She enjoyed watching the traffic and seeing the children play near the water fountain next to the bank as we walked. She never ate much at those lunches, but we always had good conversation. I found out about her passing the very next day as I arrived for another of those lunch dates. It was such a pleasure visiting with her. She was a joy to be around. Such a sweet woman. I will miss her dearly, especially playing cards with her. I am so sad that I didn't know the funeral time so I could say one final goodbye to my special friend. She is with her Lord now.
