There are some people you meet in this life that seem bigger than life itself, Gram was one of them. At 5’2” with a lithe figure, a person would think her meek if they did not know her. Some people describe their Great Grandmother as a sweet old lady. I won’t describe gram that way, ever. She was strong, smart and steel willed. Being a child of The Great Depression, she knew the meaning of a hard day’s work, clean living and love of family. I cannot list all the lessons she taught me because she never sat me down and said,” This is what you should do.” She did not need to, because she lived it. She taught by example and never wavered from that example. She helped shape me into the man I am today without even trying. The last conversation I had with her she told me, “Wherever you are, always know I love you.” It was something that touched me deeply, not because she had never told me she loved me, but because I realized at that moment she never had to tell me, I always just knew it. I will miss Gram deeply, but I know she is home with the Lord now and some day we will be together again.
