Wanda Lucille Viereck's Obituary
Mrs. Wanda L. Viereck, age 91, passed away in the comfort of her home in Lyons, MI on Monday, December 2, 2013. Wanda was born on June 21, 1922 in Bridgeport, IL to Frank and Lena (Whitten) Holstien, and came to the Michigan area at a young age. She worked at Sealed Power for 30 years before retiring at the age of 60 (1984). Wanda acquired many Chinese artifacts and collectables, and enjoyed doing beadwork. On March 5, 1957 she married Walter P. Viereck, who preceded her in death on December 14, 1983. Wanda is survived by one daughter, Sandra Wilkins of Gowen, MI; 5 grandchildren: Kelly Ann (Daniel) Baker of Lyons, MI Konya Ray Huddleston of Hudsonville, MI, Scott Kevin (Vonvilay) Wilkins of Zeeland, MI, Kimberly Lynn (Donald) O’Brien of Norton Shores, MI, and Shane Edward Wilkins of Traverse City, MI; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren as well as 2 on the way. Also preceding her in death were 6 brothers, Hugh, Bill, Roland, Glenn, James, and Ray Holstien; and 2 sisters, Velma Juhnke and Beulah Stark. Wanda’s ashes will be buried in Mona View Cemetery in Muskegon Heights, MI in the spring.
