Weitse S. Wheeler's Obituary
Weitse S. Wheeler, age 87, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday morning, June 6, 2018. He was born June 7, 1930 in Muskegon Heights, MI to Wilfred and Berendena (Sprik) Wheeler. On September 6, 1957, he married Hazel “Jean” Stonex in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2011. Weitse had been a maintenance manager for Meijer Corporation prior to his tenure at Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as custodian for 22 years, retiring in 1994. Over the years he had been a deacon, taught Sunday school, and was currently a member of Calvary Church on Quarterline. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoyed bee keeping, doing puzzles, camping and spending time with family. SURVIVORS include 2 children: Ellen (Brian) Oberg of Marquette, MI, Gary Wheeler of N. Muskegon; 2 grandchildren: Joy and Jay Oberg; brother-in-law, Walter Stonex of Whitehall; sister-in-law, Maryanne Wheeler of Norton Shores; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, David Wheeler; 2 brothers: Jerry (Clarissa) Wheeler and Harold Wheeler. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 11, 2018 at Calvary Church (1070 Quarterline Rd., Muskegon, MI 49442) with Pastor Bill Rudd and Pastor Keith Sandison officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. Memorials to the Calvary Church Building Fund will be appreciated.
