I will always remember Wilbur and Marian as the parents of my childhood friend, Jill. The Grumm's took me on family vacations, and many, many weekends I stayed at their home on Rood Rd., and ate wonderful food (I still think of Marian when I have the broccoli cheese rice casserole). When I think of Wilbur, I think of his big working hands, wiping his brow and pushing his hair out of his face. He was fun, and was always teasing Jill and me. He made me laugh, and the whole family provided a stability for me that I would not otherwise have had in my life. I still hear his booming voice and loud, loving laughter. Most of all, I will continue to think of him as I watch the Great Lake freighters pass by. I am saddened to hear of his death, but I also know that he will always live among us with endless memories. He was one of a kind! Love to all of you, "Kelsel"##imported-begin##Kelly Rhoades##imported-end##
I am so sorry to hear of Willie's passing. I always thought he was the coolest dad. He was alway jovial and liked to tease. I hope you all can draw comfort from your memories of him.

Mrs. Grumm,
I'm not sure if you remember me or not but this is Mary (Sampson) Murray. My Mom and Dad were Sam & Phyllis Sampson and my Step-father was Paul Rayel. My Dad and Paul worked with Willie at Gulf Oil. I remember coming to your house a long time ago in Spring Lake. I was sad to read that he has passed away. I always liked him and he was so nice to me when we were kids and would go to Gulf Oil. When I saw your 50th anniversary announcement in the Chronicle, I bought a card to send to you guys but I couldn't locate your address anywhere. I even went on-line trying to find it so I could send the card. Anyway, I wanted you to know that I was thinking of you and you have my sincere sympathy.
