Wilbur Grumm's Obituary
Wilbur O. Grumm, age 85, of Spring Lake (formerly of Muskegon), passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Poppen House Hospice Residence in Muskegon. He was born December 19, 1924 in Rothbury, MI to Otto and Selma (Darschevske) Grumm, and married Linnea Marian Howell on July 19, 1948 in LaPorte, IN.
Wilbur retired from Gulf Oil in Muskegon where he worked for 35 years at the tank farm. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Muskegon and had proudly served his country during WWII in the Army Air Forces. He enjoyed gardening and drinking coffee with his friends at the Idle Hour in Spring Lake.
Wilbur is survived by his loving wife, Marian; a daughter, Jill Grumm of Spring Lake; 2 sons, Kurt Grumm of Spring Lake, and Kipp (Theresa) Grumm of Novi; 4 grandchildren: Ashley, Brandon, Bridget, Aidan; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, and Shiloh; a sister, Jeanette Radel of Muskegon, and several nieces and nephews. Wilbur was preceded in death by his daughter Pam, grandson Jarrad, and 6 brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Service will take place 12:00 noon Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Lassanske and Rev. Nicholas Fuller officiating. The family will meet friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake and Saturday one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Wilbur may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Make-A-Wish Foundation.
