William F. "Bill" Stone's Obituary
Mr. William F. “Bill” Stone, age 96, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. He was born on July 4, 1921 in Elbridge Twp, to Neil and Mary (Negake) Stone, and was a lifelong resident of the area. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a medic in the 104th Medical Battalion in WW II in the North African, Italian, and European Campaigns. He worked for S.D. Warren for over 30 years, before retiring in 1991. Bill was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He taught an Ottawa language class through the Muskegon Heights school system. He was a standout athlete, he enjoyed archery, softball, bowling and golf. He played harmonica in jazz bands in local clubs and venues. Bill also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with his large family. On February 14, 1946, he married the former Ramona Rogers, and she preceded him in death on October 8, 2012. SURVIVORS include eight children, Neal (Luci) Stone, Rebecca O’Neal, Gail (Robert) Stong, Lindy (Tom) Unwin, Margarette Webber, William F. (Michelle) Stone, Jr, Christian Stone, and Merle (Lisa) Stone; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; devoted friend and best buddy, Donna Nummerdor; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Bill was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Neal Stone, Jr; and 13 siblings. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 10 AM Saturday, March 24, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 6-8 PM Friday evening, with a Rosary being prayed at 7:45PM.
