William J. Nobes' Obituary
Mr. William J. (Bill) Nobes, age 90, passed away January 2, 2012 at Brookhaven. He was born on November 21, 1921 to Leon and Ruby (Travis) Nobes in Muskegon. Prior to his retirement he was an operator at the Muskegon Filtration Plant. Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and spent time on the USS Schenck Destroyer and belonged to the Tin Can Sailors. He also belonged to the Muskegon County Rock Club and was active in the Boy Scout troop #3. On December 21, 1946, he married Beatrice Fitzgerald and she preceded him in death on January 26, 1997. SURVIVORS include 4 children, 1 son: Gale (Patty) Nobes of Muskegon; 3 daughters: Paula (Dave) Eddy of Kalamazoo, Sharon (Don) Holzhausen of Weidman, MI, Joyce (Dan) Hesling of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren: Stacy (Paul) Guajardo, Arthur Nobes, Shawna Eddy, Orion Lory, Nathan Hesling and Rae Hesling; 3 great-grandchildren: Joslynn and Catalina Guajardo and Wyatt Foster; good friends, Tim and Roni Fitzsimmons. Bill was also preceded in death by his parents: Leon and Ruby, brothers: Gale, James and Leon Jr. FUNERAL SERVICE will be 1PM, Monday, January 9, 2012 at The Walburn Chapel 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating along with the Muskegon County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS to Great Lakes Naval Memorial and Museum, Muskegon would be appreciated. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery.
