I had the pleasure of getting to know Bill in the first year as MCC’s golf coach. I wasn’t even on the team until a coincidental meeting he had with my father at The Golf Shop. He told my dad that I should talk to him because he needed another player. It was only because of that meeting was I able to qualify to go to Nationals out in Arizona with Bill and Mrs. Tilton (I have to say Mrs. Tilton instead of Patti because that is what I had to call her in middle school!). I played well enough to earn All-American honorable mention honors. From that point on, every time I saw Bill he would raise his hands in the air and exclaim, “there’s my All-American!”. It put a smile on my face every time he did it! After we returned from Arizona, Bill sent out a letter singing my praises to numerous Colleges. Because of Bill’s letter, I went to Spring Arbor College and did receive some scholarship money. That’s just a small idea what kind of person Bill Tilton is. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Tilton family.
